Welday G. Gezehen and his family fled Eritrea in 2006 and lived in Ethiopia for three years before moving to the United States in 2009. Welday loves to cook and learned the art of cooking from his mother. When he arrived to Tucson, he dreamed of owning his own restaurant and finally in January 2018 he opened his restaurant Queen Sheba that offers traditional Eritrean cuisines. “In Eritrea, everyone eats together and no one is left out.” Sitting around a table, Eritrean cuisine is indeed about community and sharing.
